Background

Fable 2 Pub Games was released in August as a form of cross promotion with Fable 2, to raise the visibility of the game and giving people the chance to get money and items to use in Fable 2 itself. As a result it was often given away free with pre orders of Fable 2 which is how I got my copy. The game itself comprised 3 pub mini games that are found in the main Fable 2 game, which are Spinnerbox: a fable version of slot machines, Keystone: a fable version of Roulette and Fortunes Tower a card stacking game.

Main Reasons to Avoid

There is not really that much to it, and if you have to buy it rather than get it free 800 points is quite expensive for what is essentially a promotional tool.

My Recommendation

CONSIDER – 6/10

If you get the game free, then it can be fun and useful in getting gold and items for use in Fable 2. It is not worth 800 MS points if you cant get a free copy especially as the main point of the game was to build hype for Fable 2.

Even though the game is not ranked as an avoid it is Shamertag worthy for 2 reasons:

1. Microsoft is essentially charging 800 MS points for a promotional tool, 400 points would be understandable given hosting costs but 800 is pushing it, especially given how many free copies must have been given away
2. In order to be able to get some of the achievements in Fable 2, you needed items that were only available in the pub games. While it was technically possible to get them in Co-op this only worked if you were present when someone unlocked them for themselves requiring considerable co-ordination
