Thoughts on Watchmen: The End is Nigh

watchmen

When I first heard about Watchmen: The End is Nigh, I was fairly enthusiastic as I was expecting a fun 800 MS Point game released to help promote the movie (to be reviewed on RandomRemarks.com), of the excellent graphic novel which I recommend you go and read if you have not already. I then read a couple of previews which were not that flattering and said it could be completed in 2-3 hours, but looked really nice.

I then found out it was going to be 1600 MS Points and thought no thanks I will download the trial first. I did and was astounded at the size of  the download which is over 1GB. After I downloaded the trial and started playing it I thought it looked and sounded really good so I thought I may buy it after all even if it is short. I then started playing the game itself and got fed up after 2 minutes, quit the game and deleted the trial from my harddrive as I found it awful to play. The ironic thing is that the high price point probably saved me from wasting MS points on a game I would have downloaded straight away from sentimental value if it had been cheaper.

The moral of this story, if you are a publisher with a bad game with mass market appeal, keep its price low so people dont bother trying before they buy, since if you price it too high they will try it out first and then not buy it losing you more money then you gain from selling at a higher price.
