Game Details

  • Title: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
  • Developer: Lucasarts
  • Released (UK): 19/09/2008
  • Age Rating: 12+
  • Game Type: 3D Action Platform
  • Multi-player: None

In the Force Unleashed you take on the role of Darth Vaders previously unknown apprentice and the game takes place a few years prior to the Start of Episode 4: A New Hope, and in the game you discover how the Rebel Alliance started. The Game itself is a 3D hack and slash platform game and while fun to play can get quite repetitive at times.

Good Points

The graphics and sound are of a high quality, especially the music which is adapted from John Williams score of the films. The plot itself is fairly indepth and interesting with several twists. The game is also fun to play.

Bad Points

The plot while indepth lacks any branching until the end of the game. The boss fights are also all decided through button mashing which can get irritating after a while. I also encountered several glitches in the game when I missed jumps and ended up stuck within textures. There is also no multiplayer which reduces the games lifespan.

My Recommendation

Consider – 7/10

Overall this is a game that it is better to rent than buy, while fun to play is quite limited. If you are a fan of the extended Star Wars universe you should definitely play the game however given how the story gives added insight into how the Rebel Alliance began.
