Background

Fallout 3 is one of the best RPGs around for any system and The Pitt is the 2nd of 3 pieces of DLC to be released on the Xbox 360 and PC for the game. The basic plot of the Pitt is that you pick up a radio signal and after investigating it are asked for help in freeing The Pitt from the slavers and to get the cure for the degenerative radiation linked sickness that slowly turns the residents of the Pitt into feral ghoul like creatures called Trogs. You then infiltrate the Pitt as a slave and the plot progresses from there including a brief Mad Max 3 Thunderdome-esque sub plot 2/3 of the way through the DLC think “Two Men enter 1 Man leaves”

Positives

The ultimate positive is that it is more Fallout 3, and the area is still accesable once you finish the main Pitt quest. You also get some decent loot and perks out of the DLC and there are an element of moral choices, including a morally ambiguous option on the “Good” route assuming you did not kill the main “villian” BEFORE you discover the truth about the cure. The main villian also has a tragic background if you investigate sufficiently to find out what it is

Negatives

I found that the game made it too easy to shoot the villian before discovering the truth about the cure leading to you making the questionable choice anyway as you have gone too far along the route to switch sides, which you might do as a “good” character if you understood his background. The DLC is also short and can be completed in under 3 hours if you dont bother with the Steel Ingot achievement. In addition you still have the level cap, though this is meant to be lifted in the next DLC.

My Recommendation

Buy – 8/10

While the DLC is short, if you enjoy Fallout 3 it is still a worthwhile purchase and I probably enjoyed this DLC more and found it more indepth than the previous Operation Anchorage DLC.
