My Impressions
When we last saw are intrepid hero Guybrush Threepwood he was being held at swordpoint by a mysterious female, who is soon revealed to be the infamous pirate Hunter Morgan Le Flay, who turns out to be a fairly attractive lady and a bit of a fan of Guybrush Threepwood, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to take his hand.
As you might expect there is a bit of a swordfight at the beginning which unfortunately is a wasted opportunity as aside from a couple of insults thrown in to the dialog is not an insult swordfight much to my disapointment, though I did laugh at the use of the infamous “you fight like a cow” response.
The game moves swiftly on from there and you are then thrown into the quest to find the summoning artefacts that will take you to “la Esponga Grande” which is needed to cure the Vodoo Pox you caused in Episode 1. You quickly get reunited with Elaine who sweet talks you into working with the now creepily nice human Le Chuck. This then has an amusing dialog tree between yourself and Lechuck which harkens back to the old Scumm interface (Use X on Y).
In terms of the story and plot then, there were no major problems as it was solid and funny throughout. Unfortunately the episode is a little on the short and easy side, though the amusement value from the plot makes up for that.
Overall then, if you havent bought Tales of Monkey Island as a set, it looks well worth the money if you are a fan of the Monkey Island games, though some people may find the individual episodes a little short and easy. For me though the main dissapointment was the missed opportunity regarding insult swordfighting and still no Murray the skull.
My Recommendation
Buy
Another solid and enjoyable episode in the Tales of Monkey Island series. If you enjoy point and click adventure games then I can see little reason aside from length not to buy the game
